Bee welfare is at the heart of what we do. Our colonies are managed throughout the year, with careful decisions made around their health, temperament and long-term strength.
We believe in working with the bees rather than simply drawing as much honey as possible. We prioritise what's best for them over what's best for us.

Tom Nickisson-Richards is the beekeeper behind The Wessex Honey Co.
"My interest in bees and honey production began after a visit to a small apiary on the Croatian island of Korčula. What started as curiosity soon grew into a fascination with bees, the craft of beekeeping, and the remarkable way honey reflects the landscape it comes from."

Our honey is harvested only from the bees’ surplus stores. A healthy colony can produce more honey than it needs, and we only take honey that the bees can genuinely spare.
We usually harvest several times a year, in spring and summer. Each harvest varies naturally from batch to batch.
See Batch Details to learn more about each individual harvest.

At present, our bees are kept at a single apiary site in South Warnborough, a small Hampshire village nestled in the North Downs between Odiham and Alton.
This land has been part of our family history for over 80 years, and it is, in our opinion, a very special place.
Surrounded by countryside, hedgerows, gardens, farmland and mature trees, it provides the bees with varied local forage.
